Directed by Paul Feig (Ghostbusters, Bridesmaids, The Heat), A Simple Favour is a stylish mystery thriller.

Anna Kendrick plays Stephanie, the host of a popular vlog where she shares recipes and life tips. In the latest episode, she reveals that her friend Emily (Blake Lively) has gone missing. Having asked Stephanie a "simple favour" to pick up her son Nicky from school, she hasn’t been seen for five days.

The film then explores how the parents first met weeks earlier, and how their friendship develops. Emily reveals a dark side, switching between hospitality and power-play to test Stephanie’s boundaries. We are also introduced to Emily’s husband Sean (Henry Golding), another piece in the puzzle.

Simple Favour still Simple Favour Blu-ray

As the tale unfolds, we learn more not only about Emily (or do we?), but also about the layers beneath how people present themselves to the public.

With more twists and turns then a dance contest, Paul Feig effortlessly switches between suspense and comedy as the mystery unfolds.

Blu-ray extras include an intro and audio commentary with director Paul Feig, two additional cast and crew commentaries, Dapper Director Diaries and several other featurettes, an alternate ending. Gag Reel, and Deleted scenes. The disc really provides great value with lots of additional content for fans of the film.

Great performances from Anna and Blake captivate throughout, complimented by glossy sets and French pop music to further set the mood. A Simple Favour is delightfully dark, very funny and full of surprises.
